Vinyl Nights at Shift: Reclaiming the Intention of Sound

Select Tuesday nights from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the lights get lower, the music gets louder, and Shift transforms into a space built entirely for the analog

Vinyl Night was born out of a deep passion for the intentional. Chase and Zac have always loved records because they require an amount of focus and intentionality that a lot of other content consumption doesn't. We wanted to bring that exact element into the gym because it's our ultimate goal to curate a space that feels intentional, human, and approachable.

Vinyl Night represents a deliberate move away from the algorithm and towards something very... real. It is an opportunity to chill, listen to music, maybe hear some new songs, and climb.

The evening session has never been more curated.

6:30 PM- The music pauses. Ambient sounds of rubber hitting the mats and slapping wooden volumes fill the room. For just a moment, the gym stands still. Then, the drop. The needle, the lights both fall down, and so do tall your worries (hopefully.) Shift is gone and you've been transported into an alternate dimension of chilling, bouldering, belonging, and sharing a love of music and climbing.

We design Vinyl night with never before done themes in mind, some of our past favorites?

  • Bob Night - Bob Dylan, Bob Weir & the Grateful Dead, Bob Marley and the Wailers. We called on all Bob's for this one. Anyone got any Seger?
  • A Tribe Called Bruce - The boss and the E Street Band woven together with A Tribe Called Quest for rock and roll hip hop fusion
  • King Gizzard and the Lizard Rolling Stones - Jam band psychedlia meets OG brit rock? Yeah, we're there.

Got any recs for upcoming nights? Hit us up, we'd love to hear them.

And regardless of what we're spinning, any climber and audiophile is always to bring their own records from home and we'll be sure to add them to the mix for the night.

8:30 PM - The final record tracks wrap up, and like the hero returning home from his Odyssey, the climbing gym returns to its regular state.
