How Mika Reconnected with Community at Shift Climbing

I actually lived here in Holland before. I struggled a lot. I didn't have many friends. And I moved out of state and I came back with climbing as part of my life. I love climbing at SHIFT. I feel welcome. Everyone knows me here. I know everyone.

Liz: "Everybody loves Mika."

Yeah.It goes beyond colorful walls. Circuits, for me, are a very unique approach. They're different. And I think they're very constructive. Sometimes I get here and look to the problem and say "this is impossible." And then, "wait, have you tried this way?" And "no, okay, let's try." And then, "okay, it's actually doable."And the beauty of climbing for me is also celebrating those small progresses every day. And I do think climbing relates a lot to life in general — how we face problems, how we solve problems, and how we have the people's supporting us to go through.
