Jack Murphy

Head Routesetter

Jack has been climbing for six years and routesetting for more than five, driven by a passion for creating memorable experiences that inspire climbers of all levels. As a USA Climbing Level 1 Certified Routesetter, he has set for numerous competitions and guest set at gyms throughout the Midwest.

While he enjoys crafting challenges for experienced climbers, Jack is especially motivated by creating thoughtful, engaging boulders that draw new climbers into the sport. He views routesetting as a way to connect with his community, encourage exploration, and help people push beyond their perceived limits.

Two climbing trips to Fontainebleau, France, have influenced Jack’s approach to setting. There he discovered the iconic circuit system and developed an appreciation for subtle, nuanced movement that continues to shape his style today. Whether setting approachable beginner climbs or technical challenges, he always strives to improve and create meaningful experiences on the wall.

Outside of climbing, Jack enjoys fly fishing on Michigan’s river systems. Time on the water allows him to reset, let his mind wander, and return to the gym with fresh ideas and perspective.
